Farewell Rosa Parks.........
Today, I deviate from the normal rant and rave you may have seen on this site. I must admit to have been saddened by the news of the death of Rosa Parks.
Did I know her personally? No.
Am I black? No.
Am I American? No.
What upsets me is the loss of a woman who was the epitome of the power of the lone voice in a sea of screamers. The woman who said she wouldn't stand up for a white man on a bus.
Although she was lauded later in life for making that stand, lets remember dear reader, she shouldn't have had to do it in the first place. There are, sadly, still places in the world where that and worse still happens.
Perhaps, somewhere, there just might be another Rosa Parks waiting in the wings.
